Ever since childhood I have always had a strong passion for animals. Previously I worked in healthcare, this was back in 2011 when I first moved to Wiltshire. It was at this time I decided to turn my love of pets into a business and set up Charlie Paws.
I knew the difficulty in finding someone reliable, having worked difficult shift patterns I knew it was important to offer a flexible service open 24 hours a day.
I was incredibly lucky to quickly meet so many wonderful pets and count myself as having one of the best jobs ever!
To gain a greater understanding of the animals we look after I completed a diploma in animal psychology. (2014)
I am the proud owner two Labrador’s Lewis and Honey, a cocker spaniel called Lady and a lovely elderly cat Scrumpy. Alongside 2 shetland ponies and a new forest pony.
As far back as I can remember I have always loved animals, any shape any colour any size.
Mum was a veterinary nurse whilst I was growing up. This meant we would quite often have a house full of all types of animals. From your usual cats, dogs and birds, to horses, goats and reptiles.
I decided to follow my passion and to also follow mum’s footsteps and become a veterinary nurse myself. In 1996 I completed 4 years at the RSPCA in Bournemouth. I then went on to specialise in equine science for a further 3 years.
After having my 2 little boys, I now enjoy my day on the lighter side of life, where I get to play and spend my time with the animals I love so dearly.
Having been brought up on a farm I have been around animals all my life, my first passion are horses and I have owned my own in the past and used to compete in show jumping and cross country, about 20years ago circumstances changed and i became involved in dog showing, my first dog was a Hungarian Vizsla called Echo and she got me hooked on showing and working, during this time I have bred 3 litters of Hungarian Vizslas, I still have her grand daughter Taz who is 13 now. I have 3 other dogs who are German shorthaired pointers, Saxon and Marley (brothers) which I bred who are 7 now and Henri who is 3 who I am currently showing and working successfully, my greatest achievement being that Saxon and Marley’s sister qualified for the Pup of the Year and got shortlisted to the final 6.
Before joining Charlie’s Paws I worked for Mole Valley Farmers for 27 years mainly in the animal health sector, the last 2 years were spent working for the vet practice based within the store. I am a SQP which means I am qualified to advice on animal health products including wormers for large and small animals.
From an early age I have been passionate about all animals and I am now lucky enough to be doing my dream job.
My name is Amanda, i stared at Charlie Paws in January 2017 and absolutely love my job. I have always worked with animals since leaving school. I worked on a small show jumping yard by Wincanton then moved on to a small hunting yard where i gained a lot of experience. I took some time out there after to start my family.
A year on, i started working at a top Showing Yard where we qualified for Horse Of The Year and Windsor Show. I worked there for an additional 8 years, but then felt needed a change.
I love being outside with my own dogs and enjoy walking them all over Wiltshire so managed to secure a position at Charlie Paws where i’m able to combined my love for all animals on the job.
I have 4 dogs of my own, 2 beagles, 1 Labrador, and our newest addition a Tibetan mastiff. being able to spend time with them and do the job i love is amazing
I’ve been apart of the Charlie Paws Team since August 2017. I help do house / pet sittings, Cat visits and dog walking. I LOVE it. I’ve always been a very keen animal lover myself, now owning a dog, 2 horses, 2 rabbits, a hamster and fish. My happiest place is with all your animal best friends
I joined the Charlie Paws team in April 2018.
